

The director of the campus-based Mississippi Water Resources Institute is the new president of the National Institutes of Water Resources.
Dr. Jonathan Pote assumes the NIWR post Oct. 1. The national body, which represents water research institutes in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and three U.S. territories, works to promote communication, multidisciplinary research and policy analysis among its membership.
A professor of agricultural and biological engineering, Pote became head of the Mississippi institute in 1992. He holds a doctorate from the University of Arkansas.
