Powe faculty enhancement awards offered

Research awards for faculty in the first stages of their careers are now available for Oak Ridge Associated Universities members.

Recipients of the 24 Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Awards-named for the late MSU vice president for research-will receive $10,000 towards the faculty member's research.

Applicants must be full-time assistant professors within three years of their tenure-track appointments. The awards support research in applied science, engineering, life sciences, mathematics/computer sciences, physical sciences, or policy, management and education. Applications in the last category are especially encouraged.

Each institution may submit a maximum of two applications.

Awards are based on research performance competence, intrinsic merit of research and diverse participant population.

Applications must be received in the Office of Higher Education Initiatives, P.O. Box 117, Oak Ridge, Tenn. 37831, by Feb. 13. Awards will be announced in April.
