January skies might be gray but, for welders joining the steel frame of the Dave C. Swalm Chemical Engineering Building, "shades" are a year-round necessity. More than 15 percent complete, the $18.6 million structure will be an exact exterior replica of Lee Hall, which it mirrors at the south end of the Drill Field. Scheduled to open in early- or mid-1999, the building will house the new School of Chemical Engineering. |
