"Interpretations," an exhibition of photography by Dr. William McClung of English opens Feb. 3 in the Wise Center's Pegasus Gallery.
The sponsoring Department of Art will host an opening public reception Feb. 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the Wise Center.
A Richmond, Va., native, McClung has taught at the university since 1971. While his teaching concentration is 17th-century literature, he also teaches a writing course in the School of Architecture.
In 1994, he began studying black-and-white photography as an aid to research and publishing in architectural subjects. This utilitarian interest gradually grew into a pursuit of photography as an art form in its own right.
McClung began exhibiting his work in 1995. His photographs focus on poetic interpretations of architectural subjects and have been included in the Meridian Museum of Art's "People's Choice" exhibitions. He also was invited several times to exhibit at the School of Architecture.
McClung received his bachelor's degree from Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., and his master's and doctorate from Harvard University.
