A part of the College of Engineering, the MSU facility is one of 27 authorized by NSF throughout the nation. At each location, scientists are working to transfer university research in engineering to the American industrial sector.
Northrop Grumman is among two original corporate sponsors of Mississippi State's research center and one of approximately 35 industrial affiliates currently supporting its work.
Company engineers have been involved in the ERC's internationally recognized research in numerical grid generation, a highly technical and specialized field pioneered at MSU. Northrop Grumman also has been a customer for ERC research, including computer codes used in the design and development of advanced aircraft.
Northrop Grumman is a major contractor for the Department of Defense Major Shared Resource Center at the U.S. Navy Oceanographic Center. Located at the Stennis Space Center in Hancock County, the facility houses the nation's fourth largest-and the world's seventh largest-supercomputer.
