Spirrison named Fellow in international society

Dr. Charles L. Spirrison, associate professor of psychology, recently was named a Fellow in an international organization devoted to personality assessment.

The Society for Personality Assessment selected Spirrison, in part, because of his years of postdoctoral research and teaching in the area of personality assessment.

Psychologists and behavorial scientists use personality assessment to determine characteristics that constitute important differences in personality and ways to accurately measure them.

Spirrison received his bachelor's degree from North Texas State University and his master's and doctorate from the University of Southern Mississippi. In addition to his teaching duties, he has directed the department's clinical psychology program for eight years. Spirrison joined the MSU faculty in 1989.

The society, headquartered in Falls Church, Va., promotes the investigation, education and application of personality assessment.
