Five student recruiting fellowships in biological sciences recently were named for longtime professor Lewis R. Brown.
The fellowships-$10,000 each-were provided to the university more than 15 years ago by the state College Board to attract Ph.D. candidates.
According to biological sciences head Don Downer, the department decided to name the fellowships and selected Brown for "all his contributions to biological sciences and the College of Arts and Sciences." Brown has been on the MSU faculty for 37 years.
The 12-month fellowships are awarded each fall.
