The College of Arts and Sciences will celebrate Homecoming with the world's largest cowbell, a live band and Elvis for its second annual "Extravaganza" Oct. 17.
Festivities get under way at 10 a.m. on the north side of Hull Hall. Game-goers can enjoy barbecue, specialty bagels and soft drinks.
In addition, Extravaganza participants can experience a combination of blues, rock and roll and soul tunes from the '50s through the '90s as performed by "Billy and the Kids" featuring Starkville's own Bill Cooke. Special guest Tim Johnson of Madison, a state senator and A&S alumnus, will appear as Elvis and perform with the band. Also appearing are the MSU Cheerleaders and Bully.
And, there's face painting, Mother Goose stories and animal-shaped helium balloons on hand for the children.
"The Extravaganza provides a festive atmosphere for college alumni and friends to visit with former professors, current students and fellow graduates," explained Lee Williams, event chair and director of development for the college. "We wanted a venue in which the Arts and Sciences alumni could identify with the entire college in addition to affiliating with their particular academic departments."
