A new online university directory features more options than the old version and, with twice-weekly updates, should prove to be more accurate.
Created by the Office of Information Technology Services, the World Wide Web directory contains information about faculty, staff, students, and departments, including telephone and fax numbers, e-mail and regular mail addresses, and location data.
Departmental information is provided by the Office of Telecommunications, while personal information is provided by the Department of Human Resources Management. Listings will be updated automatically twice a week. Directions on how to have personal information changed can be found on the web site.
The directory includes both "Quick" and "Power Search" options and a browse feature. The quick search option allows users to search for a word throughout the entire directory database. The power search option allows them to fine-tune the search to specify faculty/staff or student information, as well as specifying that the search is for name, title, department, e-mail, phone, or address data. The browse function allows the user to search through an alphabetized listing.
The directory can be accessed by web browser from the university's "Find" page, which is available from the button on the top level of the university web site, or directly at <www.msstate.edu/directory/>.
