MSU-designed U.S. Women's Open web site up

The 1999 U.S. Women's Open Championship web site-designed by Mississippi State-is up and running at <www.99uswomensopen.org>.

The tournament will be played May 31-June 6 at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point.

The web site features an Old Waverly golf course layout, ticket, volunteer, corporate hospitality, and accommodation information. It also provides additional details associated with the championship.

"Understanding that we have only one opportunity to stage a successful championship, one of our main goals is building the awareness of this 'once in a lifetime event,'" said Karen Cheshire, 1999 U.S. Women's Open Championship director. "The launching of the web site is a phenomenal way to reach millions of people and provide up-to-date information on various championship topics. We are very pleased with the immeasurable marketing tool which Mississippi State University has provided to us through the site."

Bennet George, MSU's assistant director of university relations, is the mastermind behind the new site.

"We were honored to be chosen by the 1999 U.S. Women's Open to design their web site," said George. "This championship is an important factor in Mississippi's economic development. Mississippi State University is vitally interested in showing the world the benefits our state has to offer, including world-class golfing and a world-class university."
