

Eight Mississippi State alumni will be honored as College and School Alumni of the Year during the annual Alumni Awards Banquet Jan. 29.
Sponsored by the Mississippi State Alumni Association, the event also honors the National Alumnus of the Year and the Prestigious Young Alumnus, as well as local chapters.
The 1999 College and School Alumni of the Year include:
Turner Arant of Sunflower, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Arant, who received his bachelor's degree in animal science in 1956, is a Mississippi Delta farmer who helped establish the catfish industry in the state more than 35 years ago.
Sonia McNabb Cowart of Ocean Springs, School of Architecture. Cowart, who received her bachelor's degree in architecture in 1983, is principal of Cowart Architects.
Cherri M. Musser of Gross Pointe Shores, Mich., College of Arts and Sciences. Musser, who received her bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1973, is process information officer of business systems for General Motor's Information Systems and Services organization and acting chief information officer for General Motors Europe.
Joseph B. Whiteside Sr. of Tupelo, College of Business and Industry. Whiteside, who received his bachelor's degree in business in 1949, is former president and chairman of the board of Lee Wholesale and of Triangle Distributors.
Marilyn Montgomery Lambert of Prairieville, La., College of Education. Lambert, who received her bachelor's degree in business education in 1983, is Ascension Parish court judge.
Kenneth I. Warren of Vicksburg, College of Engineering. Warren, who received his bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 1963, is executive director of the Mississippi Department of Transportation.
Tony R. Parks of Clinton, College of Forest Resources. Parks, who received his bachelor's degree in forestry in 1973, is president of Anderson-Tully Lumber Co.
Dr. James Allen Watson of Madison, College of Veterinary Medicine. Watson, who received his bachelor's degree in dairy science and doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 1982, practices large animal veterinary medicine and is state veterinarian for Mississippi.
