Free computer training classes offered

The Office of User Training and Support (formerly User Services) is undergoing significant reorganization to provide improved services to the campus community.

This will result in an increased number and selection of training sessions and short classes later this year. At present, a limited selection of classes is being offered.

All classes are free to faculty, staff and students and will be held 3-5 p.m., 102 Simrall:

• UNIX Commands for the Web and HTML-Monday, Feb.8: learn Unix commands and Hypertext Markup Language for web construction and publishing.
• GIF Animations-Tuesday, Feb. 9: focus on creating GIF animations with inexpensive GIF animation tools.
• JavaScript-Wednesday, Feb.10: learn how to create dynamic web applications with JavaScript.
• Microsoft Access 97 Beginner to Intermediate-Monday, Feb. 15: an introduction to Microsoft Access 97, including tables, forms, queries, reports and creating relationships.
• Windows NT-Tuesday, Feb. 16: begin mastering the Windows NT operating system.
• SAS 6.12 for Windows-Wednesday, Feb. 17: SAS, a statistical package, its features and syntax will be covered.
• Beginning Photoshop-Monday, Feb. 22: the basics of Photoshop and how to create simple graphics will be taught.
