Program: Creation & Presentation
Agency: National Endowment for the Arts

Supports the creation of new work & the presentation of new & existing works of any culture, period, or discipline. Priority will be given to projects that are of national, regional, or field-wide significance, including unique local projects that are likely to serve as models for a field. Program: Schools for a New Millennium Planning Grants
Agency: National Endowment for the Humanities
Next Deadline: Apr 01, 1999
Supports projects that incorporate technological resources into professional development for middle & high school teachers. IHEs may apply directly. The program aims to engage teachers in the study of core subjects like history, English, government, & foreign languages; to help teachers master digitized resources; to translate improved understanding of the humanities & the use of digitized resources into curricular improvements; & to enlist support of parents, libraries, businesses, & IHEs in the reform. Program: Research & Innovation: Directed Research Projects

Supports research on the educational & early intervention needs of children with disabilities. In FY 99 research projects have to address one of four areas: inclusion of disabled students in large-scale assessment programs; instructional interventations & results for children with disabilities; Early & predictive assessment; & improving the delivery of early intervention, special education, or related services. Program: Technology & Media Services for Individuals w/ Disabilities
Agency: U.S. Department of Education

Supports development, demonstration & use of technology & media educational activities for disabled children. So far in FY 99, a priority for captioned news, syndicated television, & children's programming has been issued (11/23/98 deadline, see the 9/18/98 Federal Register). Notices are issued throughout the year. Also priorities for closed captioned news & public information programs & for closed captioned Spanish TV programs have been issued (3/1/99 deadline, See the 1/4/99 Federal Register).
