MSU cookbook

'A Taste of Class' on sale February 14

Mississippi State is serving up the good life with its new cookbook, "A Taste of Class."

"This cookbook represents the way Mississippi State entertains its guests. We wanted to share our good life with others," said Cary Sutphin, editor of the 175-page book and an instructor in the Food Science Laboratory.

Many of the more than 150 recipes have been served to university guests over the years and feature MSU food products, including the famous cheese.

Recipes are presented in a menu format for user convenience and many come from Sutphin's research. Sidebars of additional information concerning herbs, cooking methods and food production techniques accompany many of the recipes.

Sutphin graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and Mississippi State. He has worked at MSU for more than 20 years and is presently administrator of the A.B. McKay Food and Enology Laboratory.

The Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station produced the culinary collection and proceeds from its sale will be used for research in the School of Human Sciences.

Scheduled for release Feb. 14, "A Taste of Class" sells for $24.95 and will be available in specialty and gift shops across the state. Orders may also be placed by calling 325-5000.
