Dr. Patti Abraham was appointed to a national group to study educational software in the retail market.
Abraham, professor in the Department of Technology and Education, was named by U.S. Sen. Trent Lott to the Web-based Education Commission.
The newly established commission of 14 will assess the software available to secondary and post-secondary students. Other members were appointed by President Clinton and other congressional leaders. The group will conduct public hearings in each region of the country before reporting findings to the president and Congress.
The Mississippi Educational Computing Association honored Abraham, a 23-year education veteran, in 1997 as the state's Outstanding Technology Educator of the Year.
