Students at the College of Veterinary Medicine will hold their 15th annual open house April 9 and 10 at the Wise Center.
The theme of the 1999 open house is "Meeting New Faces at CVM's Silver Celebration." This year marks the 25th since CVM was established by the state Legislature.
While thousands of young children have been attracted to the event, open house also offers a showcase of veterinary medicine for older students exploring career opportunities.
On schedule for the open house are a petting zoo, tours of the hospital complex and educational exhibits. In addition, CVM faculty and students will be on hand to answer questions about health care for large and small animals.
Live animal demonstrations will include working sheep dogs, police dogs and dog obedience. The public also can see draft animals, horse shoeing and sheep shearing. Special exhibits on wild and pet birds, emus and reptiles will be available during the open house, as well as demonstrations on aquarium medicine.
Open house begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. both days. Admission is free.
For more information and to coordinate group tours contact Tara Puckett, special programs assistant, in the CVM Office of Special Programs, 325-1167. Group reservations will ensure the opportunity for maximum touring.
