

Dr. Donald C. Jackson is the state's Conservationist of the Year /Governor's Award winner.
A professor in the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Jackson was selected for the award by the Mississippi Wildlife Federation for his commitment to the conservation of the state's natural resources.
The Arkansas native's primary focus is river fisheries research, management and development. Since he joined the Mississippi State faculty 12 years ago, Jackson has generated more than $2.5 million in research funding.
He earned bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Arkansas and a doctorate from Auburn University in fisheries management.
In 1992, Jackson was the federation's Fisheries Conservationist of the Year.
