NIH, along with ACF, DOJ and ED are supporting this five-year research grant program on child neglect research at institutions that currently have strong research programs in related areas (e.g., child development, injury prevention, developmental neurobiology, child abuse, substance abuse, population research, craniofacial and dental public health, health services) but are not engaged in extensive research focusing on child neglect. Program: Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology
Agency: U.S. Department of Education

In 1999, the program will have $75 million to support IHEs partnering with other organizations to better prepare tomorrow's teachers to use modern learning technologies. Capacity Building Grants will go to institutions that need enhanced resources for systemic implementation. Implementation Grants will go to institutions ready to use new technologies for systemic change. Program: Faculty Scholars Program

Awards are made to institutions to support a nominated faculty member's research on the psychological problems of school-age children, youth and adolescents. Foundation is interested in multi-method approaches and research in fields such as anthropology, economics, and history, as well as those more traditionally concerned with child development and mental health.
