In FY 99, ACF is supporting University-Head Start Partnerships and the Head Start Research Scholars Program for the support of doctoral candidates. Supports innovative research by small businesses with the technological expertise to contribute to the Public Health Service's (PHS) RandD mission. Universities may subcontract. SBIR has three phases; the deadlines are for Phase I proposals. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Food and Drug Administration accept proposals on December 15 only. Agency: Eppley Foundation

Provides support for research in advanced scientific subjects in the biological and physical sciences. Grants are made to recognized educational and charitable organizations in support of postdoctoral projects. Grants will not support research on cancer, cardiology, or AIDS. The Foundation is interested in supporting research for which federal support is not available. Grants of up to $25,000 support one year of research. The Foundation makes about 12 awards each year.
