Supports studies on physiological and behavioral responses responsible for space flight-related biomedical changes and countermeasures for extended human existence in microgravity. Program: Chemistry Research Instrumentation and Facilities Program
Agency: National Science Foundation

Supports the purchase of departmental research instruments by junior faculty to establish academic careers; purchase or upgrade of multi-user instruments; and major instrument development and construction in the chemical sciences. NSF provides up to $80,000 and up to one-half of the project cost in excess of $80,000. December 1 deadline is for facilities pre-proposals (full proposals due by 6/1 of each year); January 10 deadline is for multi-user and instrumentation development and July 5 deadline is for research instrumentation. Program: Hazardous Materials Worker Health and Safety Training Program
Agency: National Institutes of Health

Supports cooperative agreements to develop model programs that train and educate workers in hazardous materials and waste generation. Major objective is to prevent work related harm by assisting in the training of workers in how best to protect themselves and their communities from exposure to hazardous materials encountered during hazardous waste operations, hazardous materials transportation, environmental restoration of contaminated facilities or chemical emergency response.
