Proposed changes in the university governance document were approved in a recent mail-out polling of faculty members.
The changes in the Principles for University Governance were OK'd by 258 faculty voters. Sixty-nine voted against the proposal.
The proposal sought to streamline the search process, particularly for non-academic adminstrative positions, and was endorsed last spring by the Holland Faculty Senate. Details of the proposed changes may be found online at www.ur.msstate.edu/news/announce/genfac.asp.
Originally on the agenda of a Sept. 23 general faculty meeting, the proposal had to be voted on by mail after the meeting failed to garner a quorum of 250 faculty members.
More than 1,000 ballots were sent out by senate chair Robert Cooper.
