The man who organized a 1991 climb of the world's highest mountain will relive the adventure in a Feb. 14 public program at Mississippi State.
Rick Wilcox will discuss the New England Everest Expedition at a 7 p.m. free public program in the Simrall Hall auditorium. His remarks will be accompanied by a slide presentation.
From a base camp in Nepal, Wilcox and three other team members reached the summit of the 29,028 foot Himalayan peak in May of that year. His eight-person group was the first Everest expedition to be organized in the Eastern United States.
The president of North Conway, N.H.-based Mountain Rescue Service Inc., Wilcox currently is preparing for a March climb in the Himalayas of the world's sixth-highest mountain. His target, Cho-oyu, is located on the Nepal-Tibet border.
