One of the many excellent subject-specific databases in the libraries' collection is Ethnic NewsWatch, a great full-text resource for information about ethnic issues.

A member of the EBSCO host family of databases, Ethnic NewsWatch offers the complete text from many of the newspapers, magazines, and journals from the ethnic and minority press. Providing a rich collection of articles, editorials and reviews with a broad diversity of perspectives and viewpoints, Ethnic NewsWatch is a valuable interdisciplinary resource that encourages critical thinking and analysis, especially when comparing to the mainstream media.

Ethnic NewsWatch includes the following:

  • 200 publications, including newspapers, magazines, and academic, professional and career journals,
  • hundreds of thousands of in-depth articles covering current events, culture and history on local, national and international topics,
  • more than 7,500 new articles every month, and
  • English and Spanish publications.

Individuals affiliated with Mississippi State can access Ethnic NewsWatch, along with many other databases, from Mitchell Memorial Library's web site at <library.msstate.edu>. Remote users will be validated online. Access difficulties should be reported to the MSU Libraries Systems Department at 325-2842, or by e-mail at <systems@library.msstate.edu>.
