MSU geologist Bruce Panuska identified the meteorite--only the fourth found in the stat--as a chrondite and its age at about 4.5 million years old. Archaeologist John O'Hear estimates its appearance on Earth to be at least 1,000 years ago, based on its use by Native Americans as a tool used to crack nuts. Both MSU alumni and Verona residents, Julian is a 1965 graduate; Larry, 1967. |
