MSU police officers were recognized in a recent ceremony for their efforts in two recent medical emergencies on campus. In the top photo, officers Robert D. Edwards and Virginia Rich were honored for saving heart attack victim (r) John K. Estes' life in November. They received police lifesaving medals and American Heart Association Heartsaver Awards. After Estes' heart stopped, the officers employed a shock-producing automated external defibrillator to revive the Shannon truck driver, who was working on campus. AEDs have been standard MSU police equipment for two years. In the bottom photo, Sgt. Daniel J. Turner (l) was honored for his effects in a medical emergency involving a campus housing resident. Chief Tom Johnson presented a certificate of commendation to Turner for his quick response to a November heart attack victim.
