The National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center recently held ceremonies to celebrate the center's 10th year of operation and its "graduation" from fixed federal funding. The ceremony also recognized three faculty members who made the original proposal for an MSU engineering research center. They are (l-r) Dr. Joe Thompson, Giles Distinguished Professor of Aerospace Engineering and the ERC research leader; Dr. Don Trotter, associate vice president for strategic initiatives and interim director of the new Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems that was created to help attract Nissan to Mississippi; and Dr. David Whitfield, Giles Distinguished Professor of Aerospace Engineering and director of the Computational Simulation and Design Center. |
