New promotion, tenure timetable sought

A revised timetable for faculty promotion and tenure decisions will be in effect for the coming academic year.

The new schedule was developed in consultation with the University Promotion and Tenure Committee and endorsed by the Holland Faculty Senate Executive Committee, said Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs David Cole.

The schedule now in effect is:

Oct. 1. Candidates' applications and supporting materials are submitted to the department head.

Nov. 15. Department heads' recommendations are submitted to the dean.

Jan. 10. Deans' recommendations are submitted to the provost.

March 10. The provost's recommendations are submitted to the president.

March 20. The president's recommendations are reported to candidates, unit administrators and committee chairs.

May meeting of the IHL board. Tenure recommendations are considered by the board. As soon as possible after the May meeting of the Board of Trustees, State Institutions of Higher Learning official notification of the board's action will be sent by the president or his designee to the candidates for tenure and promotion.
