MSU Chamber Singers, Concert Choir to present public program Nov. 18

The Mississippi State Chamber Singers and Concert Choir will present a 3 p.m. joint concert Nov. 18 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 607 University Drive.

The public program will feature Thomas Tallis' "If Ye Love Me," two choruses from Haydn's "Creation," Morten Lauridsen's "Dirait-on" and "O nata lux," the third movement from his cantata, "Lux Aeterna," John Tavener's "Song for Athena," as well as three Scottish folk song arrangements by Mack Wilberg.

"There should be something in this concert for all musical tastes," said Dr. Jeffrey Pappas, conductor and director of choral activities at MSU.

The 94-voice Concert Choir and 25-member Chamber Singers are comprised of students from all colleges and disciplines within the university.

"I'm impressed by the hard work and dedication displayed by all members of both choirs," said Pappas. "Anyone coming to the concert will hear a wonderful collection of choral music by these skilled singers. It will be a wonderful way to spend a fall Sunday afternoon."
