Contributions to help defray medical expenses of a former staff member are still being accepted at the Starkville branch of the Statewide Federal Credit Union.

Longtime Physical Plant employee John C. Ellis, who retired in 2000 after 15 years as the department's project coordinator, has been battling cancer for some time and medical bills are mounting. The fund was established by his co-workers last year to help with expenses.

Contributions may be mailed to the John C. Ellis "62 Account," in care of the Statewide Federal Credit Union, P.O. Box 469, Starkville, MS 39760-0469.
