The university's Instructional Technology Advisory Committee has awarded the first two grants that will enable development of online versions of core courses.
The committee selected proposals by School of Architecture and College of Business and Industry faculty members.
Michael Fazio, David Lewis and Chris Monson of architecture will present the online version of ARC 1013, "Architecture Appreciation," a three-hour introductory level course.
Bobby Barnes and Kevin Rogers of COBI began testing a version of EC 2113, "Principles of Macroeconomics," via the Internet during spring semester and hope to offer the course fully by fall semester 2002.
The faculty teams received funding from the Office of Academic Affairs and their academic units, with support from the Cross-Unit Instructional Technology team.
The competitive Instructional Technology Initiative was developed last fall to promote online core course development for both on- and off-campus students.
Dr. Mark Binkley of geosciences is committee chair.
