Fall Flower, Garden Fest set for October 18, 19

Garden and landscape enthusiasts are expected to flock to the Fall Flower and Garden Fest at the Truck Crops Branch Experiment Station in Crystal Springs on Oct. 18 and 19 for the latest plant recommendations for Mississippi.

The 24th annual fall festival will take place 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Visitors can tour a three-acre garden with more than 40 vegetables, a raised-bed herb garden, 40 varieties of roses, and hundreds of annual and perennial flowers.

Horticultural seminars will provide information on gardening with ease, landscaping yards, managing lawns, preparing flower beds, raising cut flowers, and becoming a Master Gardener. Cooking seminars will address diabetic issues, African cooking, jellies and jams, muscadine uses, drying and preserving herbs, and other topics.

The MSU Extension Service and the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station are sponsoring the Fall Flower and Garden Fest.

The Truck Crops Station is located 25 miles south of Jackson on Highway 51. Travelers on Interstate 55 should take exit 68.
