Martin to edit engineering journal

An MSU professor is the new editor of an American Society of Civil Engineers journal.

James L. Martin recently was appointed to head the society's Journal of Energy Engineering, a three-times-a-year publication.

ASCE serves more than 125,000 civil engineers in private practice, government, industry, and academia.

The journal that Martin will edit reports on the development of scientific and engineering knowledge used in the planning, management and generation of electrical power.

Martin, who joined the MSU faculty last year, is the College of Engineering's Kelly Gene Cook Sr. Chair in Civil Engineering. He has more than 20 years experience conducting and managing water quality modeling projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Environmental Protection Agency, and industry.

Martin holds a bachelor's degree in wildlife science and civil engineering and a doctorate in civil and environmental engineering from Texas A&M University. He also received a master's in biology/marine biology at Southwest Texas State University.
