Self-study draft report available for review online

A draft version of the university's Self-Study Report is available on the Self-Study Web site at library.msstate.edu/selfstudy/ for review and comment by the university community. Comments will be accepted through Dec. 2.

Once completed, the 300-plus-page report examining every aspect of university operations will be submitted to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools for review by the Commission on Colleges and members of the peer review team that will visit MSU April 6-9, 2003.

The Self-Study Report completed by the university is a key element in the process leading to reaffirmation of accreditation by SACS, said Dr. Leslie Bauman, Self-Study director and Steering Committee chair .

"The draft report is the product of months of work by dozens of faculty, staff and administrators who made up the principal committees," Bauman said. "At this point, we are seeking corrections and suggestions from as many people as possible."

Although the entire report is quite lengthy, faculty and staff are encouraged particularly to review sections of the report related to their areas of interest or expertise, Bauman said.

To review the draft report, go to the Self-Study Web site at library.msstate.edu/selfstudy/ and click the link to "Resources," then choose the link to "Draft Report," which will produce a table of contents for sections of the report.

Comments and suggestions should be e-mailed to Bauman at bauman@ra.msstate.edu. An e-mail link to her address appears at the top of the Draft Report table of contents page.

Following the period for review and comment ending on Dec. 2, final editing will be done and the report will be printed and submitted to SACS several weeks in advance of the spring peer review visit.

English professor Robert Phillips is editor of the Self-Study Report.
