Mississippi State's Dudy Noble Field, Polk-DeMent Stadium has been cited as one the nation's top venues for college baseball by North Carolina-based Baseball America magazine.

College baseball coaches voted Dudy Noble Field sixth, while the sports information directors for baseball tabbed the MSU ballpark as the nation's second best.

Auburn's 3,806-seat Hitchcock Field at Plainsman Park led both rankings. Stadiums at seven SEC schools-Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana State, Mississippi State, and South Carolina-made at least one of the top 20 stadium rankings.

Mississippi State established the NCAA on-campus record for attendance in 1989 when 14,991 watched MSU and Florida meet on Saturday of Super Bulldog Weekend. MSU has eclipsed the 10,000 mark 14 times since the expansion of the facility and the construction of the grandstand in 1987. The April 6 MSU-Georgia game last year drew 12,360, the sixth-largest crowd at Dudy Noble Field.

The Bulldogs, ranked 11th in Collegiate Baseball's preseason poll, begin practice Feb. 3 in advance of the season-opening National Bank of Commerce Classic Feb. 21-23 at Dudy Noble. MSU opens its 35-game home schedule playing its first six and 13 of its first 16 games at home. The April 11-13 MSU-Auburn series will be featured at this year's Super Bulldog Weekend celebration.
