Kudos
Karyn Brown, communication, won a presentation award for "Communication that Works: Effective Ways to Build Stronger Relationships with Students," at the 2004 NACADA Southeast Region 4 Conference. She will represent both MSU and the region at the national convention later this year.
The Campus Activities Board won for best non-poster publicity at the 2003 South Regional National Association for Campus Activities Conference. The winning entry was a CAB T-shirt featuring the back of a taxi and the slogan, "Catch it.or get left behind." Kelly Nesbit serves as CAB director.
Dr. Louis D'Abramo, wildlife and fisheries, is the associate director for programs for the Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium. Among his duties are coordinating and overseeing the development, conduct and evaluation of the research strategic areas and their objective, and participate in expanding research funding partnerships for MASGC.
Dr. Bob Daniels, forestry, was presented the Distinguished Service Award by the Mississippi Society of American Foresters.
Mary Ford, extension service, was elected to a two-year term as regional representative of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association. Ford is the therapeutic riding instructor and program coordinator for the 4-H Therapeutic Equine Activity Member program, which conducts equine activities for people with disabilities.
Dr. Diane Wall, political science, joined 70 scholars from across the country in a California conference to examine ways to enhance civic education in school in the U.S. and abroad. It was sponsored by the Center for Civic Education.
