MSU Libraries conducting survey
During spring semester, randomly selected faculty, staff and students are receiving e-mail invitations to participate in a survey accessing MSU Libraries' quality of service.
MSU is one of more than 200 libraries participating in the LibQUAL+ survey, a national online survey designed to assess library services.
Participants are asked to answer a series of questions, such as "Are you satisfied with the quality of services at the libraries available across the campus?" The survey should take less than 15 minutes to complete.
The LibQUAL+ survey asks users to evaluate four dimensions of the MSU Libraries' services: effect of service, the library as "place," personal control, and access to information. These dimensions are defined through 27 statements. For each survey item, users are asked to identify their "minimum service level," "desired service level," and "perception of the library's service performance" on a scale of 1 to 9.
Additional questions collect information on other aspects of library service quality. Results of the survey will be used to help design future library services.
LibQUAL+ was created by the Association of Research Libraries and Texas A&M University. The survey is adapted from the widely used SERVQUAL survey, a service and quality survey instrument used for years in the business sector.
While participation is voluntary, each user will represent a portion of the MSU community and is encouraged to complete the survey.
