Forestry Department nets statewide grant
The Forest and Wildlife Research Center recently was awarded a grant designed to improve the state's economy.
Part of Gov. Haley Barbour's Make-A-Job Impact Center grant program, the MSU award is one of 11 presented statewide to stimulate small business and rural entrepreneurial growth.
The Department of Forestry, a unit of the FWRC, will receive nearly $20,000 to develop a plan to create a MAJIC Center concerned with wood waste utilization in North Mississippi.
The project is sponsored by the Mississippi Development Authority, which provides funds to develop shared-use centers that will stimulate and nurture clusters of small businesses.
