Lecture to examine identity development for sexual minorities
A Mississippi State alumnus will outline a theory of gay identity development during an Oct. 28 campus presentation.
Dr. John Marszalek III will lecture on "Gay Lesbian Affirmative Development (GLAD): Identity Development for Sexual Minorities" beginning at 7 p.m. in the Colvard Union small auditorium.
Marszalek is an assistant professor of counseling at Xavier University in New Orleans. He earned a bachelor's degree from Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y., and master's and doctoral degrees from Mississippi State.
Marszalek will discuss implications for psychological wellness and describe how friends and allies may help gays and lesbians who are struggling with sexual identity issues.
The presentation is sponsored by the MSU Lambda Professionals and Student Counseling and Testing Services.
