Some 7,500 koi, bluegill and bass minnows are new residents of the recently refurbished Eckie’s Pond. Built in the 1890s as a horticulture demonstration project by Professor A.B. McKay—whose student nickname was “Eckie”—the campus landmark is located near the President’s Home. The renovation project is being supported by private donations, including the minnows provided by alumnus Paul Picard of the Dixie Fish Farm in Houma, La.
