Two employees chosen for National Academic Advising Association awards

Mississippi State employees again are being honored with top awards from the National Academic Advising Association.
Diane L. Daniels, a mathematics instructor on the Starkville campus, is receiving the organization’s 2006 Outstanding Advising Certificate in the faculty academic advising category.
Regena J. Clark, coordinator of advising at the Meridian campus, is a selection for NACADA’s Outstanding Advising Certificate of Merit in the academic advising-primary role category.
Earlier this year, Daniels and Clark also were faculty and staff recipients, respectively, of Mississippi State’s 2006 Irvin Atly Jefcoat Excellence in Advising Award. In receiving the NACADA awards, they join a long list of university employees honored previously by the Kansas State University-based organization.
The NACADA awards are presented to individuals who have demonstrated qualities associated with the outstanding academic advising of students or outstanding academic advising administration. Recipients will be honored formally in October during the organization’s annual national conference in Indianapolis, Ind.
The faculty academic advising category includes persons whose primary responsibility is teaching and who spend a portion of their time providing academic advising services to students. Daniels is one of 17 faculty advisers nationwide chosen to receive the award.
The Academic Advising-Primary Role category includes individuals whose primary role is the direct delivery of advising services to students. Clark is among seven receiving this honor.
